Meditation Made Me Fall in Love with Art Again
This year I decided to change my life and slow down. I found some quiet time for myself and decided to take up meditation. At first I found it all rather boring and unstimulating. Now of course I realise that that is a normal reaction. My mind was overstimulated as it was, so I was bound to have “withdrawl symptoms” by shutting off the internet, TV and banning myself from the local pub. But after a few weeks, something strange happened: I would start looking forward to my meditation sessions. Not only that, but I started noticing things – smaller things – in everyday life. The bird song, changes in wind speed, changes in temperature – very subtle things. I also started taking an interest in a particular genre of art – healing art. This kind of art requires you to be tuned into it – it’s often still life scenes, with a person in a meditative position somewhere in the scene. I love these scenes – so reflective and relaxing.

My children were going to be in a play at their school. I went to a meeting with all of the parents and the teachers wanted the parents to help out with the play. I was assigned the task of making the costumes. I read different sewing machine reviews to see which one would do the best job for these types of tasks. I found the one with the best reviews and purchased it. When the sewing machine got delivered at our hourse, I instantly started to get going on designing and sewing the costumes. When we went to my children’s play and it was all over with, everyone praised me and told me what an amazing job I had done. Of course I was really happy to have gotten the approval of everyone and it encouraged me to open up my own business in sewing clothes for others.
